Organized by the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco and Andean Textile Arts, this four-day event brings together textile artists and enthusiasts, art historians, anthropologists, and many others to celebrate the wealth and diversity of Andean textile traditions. Artisans worldwide will be converging for Tinkuy 2017. 

 

North American and northern hemisphere registration is now  ready. Please read through all registration information on this site and workshop detail before registering.You must register for a package and, if you're taking workshop(s), be prepared to register for those at the same time you register for a package. CLICK HERE and you'll be brought to the registration site. While a few speakers and program details are still being confirmed, you can see what is occurring each day before choosing a workshop--many of the con-current lectures are geared toward the indigenous artisans.

Registration Packages

The Textile Master Package

Includes access to all Tinkuy 2017 events including keynote speakers, guest speakers, weaving demonstrations, textile organization presentations, and nightly activities. The Textile Master Packet includes three workshops which the participant selects from the five offered.

The Textile Lover Package

Includes access to all Tinkuy 2017 events including keynote speakers, guest speakers, weaving demonstrations, textile organization presentations, and nightly activities. Hands-on workshops offered separately and not included in the Textile Lover package.

Hands-On Workshops

Hands-on Workshops 

Tinkuy 2017 offers five unique hands-on workshops during three days of the conference. Each workshop is one day of class time: two hours of instruction in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. Workshops in both basic and advanced backstrap weaving, Chichilla tubular border weaving, Grimitas chullo knitting technique, and Andean spindle spinning will be offered. Post-Tinkuy Workshop: Natural Dyes

A post-Tinkuy natural dye workshop will take place in the village of Chinchero. Space is limited to 20 people.  

 

 

Tinkuy 2017 offers one post-conference workshop which will teach the secrets of plant and animal dyes that have been used for thousands of years by the peoples of Peru. Participants will learn to dye eight colors while working with weavers from the Chinchero weaving association. All materials, lunch, and transportation to and from Chinchero are included in the cost of the workshop. Registration for the Post-Tinkuy Natural Dye Workshop is separate from Tinkuy 2017 registration and is not included in any of the Tinkuy 2017 registration packages.
